The Great British Rhythm and Blues Festival, Colne 
22nd - 24th August  

Enjoy a huge celebration of British Rhythm and Blues in Colne this weekend as over 50 artists take to stages across three main venues, the Pendle Hippodrome, The Exchange Project Stage and the Little Theatre. This award winning festival is not to be missed by those who have a love for the music and will feature a number of international artists, UK Blues Award winners, local talent and headliners, including Beaux Gris Gris & The Apocalypse, When Rivers Meet and Gerry McAvoy's Band of Friends.

One More Bite Street Food & Drink Festival, Lancaster  

22nd - 24th August 

A weekend of great street food, drinks and djs await at Lancaster Castle this weekend as Kantena presents One More Bite. This food and drink festival will highlight the culinary delights of artisan food and drink producers from across the north west. There will be DJs offering entertainment and kids will be kept company by a host of fun, food orientated workshops & demos. Most traders will be offering children’s sized meals too.

Amazing Accrington Soapbox Challenge  
23rd August  

Have a great deal of fun at the Amazing Accrington Soapbox Challenge! This year not only can you join in with the racing, but you can also watch the amazing creations others have made as they whizz down the course, which includes chicanes, jumps, water blasters, giant screens and more! There will be a two-level height ramp at the start line, which competitors will need to take on before facing the 170-metre-long track with many surprises along the way, including jumps, chicanes, water pistols and much more.

Preston City Mela 
23rd August  

This long standing, vibrant celebration of arts, music, dance, culture and heritage is back to give you a touch of South Asia in its 28th year. Bringing families and communities together, highlighting local talent and offering something for everyone this beautiful celebration brings people of Preston and visitors together to dance, sing and have fun. There will be a variety of performance artists, workshops and catering that all help to celebrate the story of south Asian communities.

Brockholes Village Fete, Preston 

23rd -25th August  

A weekend of nostalgic fun awaits as Brockholes turns into a summer village fete for the bank holiday weekend.  

This summer celebration will take place on the iconic floating village, surrounded by nature and offer fun and games in the sun. There will be plenty of crafts, food and enteritanment with Punch and Judy and magic shows, vintage car displays, live music, animals to meet and greet, nature trails, bouncy castles and soft play and more. Plus the kids can burn off extra steam in the playground too!

Lowther's Food and Drink Festival, Lytham 

23rd -25th August  

Another one for the foodies! Head along to Lowther Pavillion where you will find the greens transformed with the very best food and drink stalls for miles around. Perfect for all the family, there will also be walkaround characters, fun fair, craft marquee and more! In addition to this free event outside, the Lowther Pavillion will be hosting the Lytham International Film Festival inside the Chapman Studio. This paid event is a must for any film buffs looking to enjoy something special this weekend.

Burnley Canal Festival, Finsley Gate Wharf 
24th August  
Visit the beautifully refurbished Finsley Gate Wharf and along the towpath nearby as part of the Burnley Canal Festival this August Bank Holiday Weekend. Enjoy lots of family-friendly and creative activities such as performances from The Green Man, Paris Bubbles and make your own Textile Biennial tote bag, or dancing flowers! There will be live music from an array of artists including the The Burnley Alliance Silver Band, Ben Farmer, Back o'th Bush, and Hiroshima Twinkie. There will be many opportunities for eating lots of lovely street food and to get on to the water too. 
Burnley Canal Festival is a fantastic way for visitors to celebrate the fantastic resource that is the Leeds & Liverpool Canal, and Burnley’s unique canal-side heritage.

World Gravy Championship, Stacksteads 
25th August  

Its back! This year marks another year for the World Gravy Wrestling Championships in Rossendale. Without a doubt this is one of the World’s craziest culinary competitions. A wild and whacky wrestling competition in a pool full of Lancashire Gravy!  
Watch as contestants don fancy dress and wrestle in gravy for 2 minutes, with points awarded for best dressed, comedic effect, entertainment, and wrestling ability. In addition to the contests, there are many activities for the family, the event has included cheer leading groups, BB gun shooting ranges, bouncy castles, face painting, craft beer stalls, cake and tombola stands.  The kids also get a chance to get a go in the gravy.

Ride the Lights, Blackpool 

26th August  

Technically not the weekend, but if you are making the most of your bank holiday time off and extending it into next week, the Ride The Lights event is back next Tuesday!  

This event sees the promenade in Blackpool close to cars and other vehicles to allow thousands of bikes, many lit up for the occasion to travel the 6.5miles of Blackpool illuminations – ahead of the official witch on date! Grab a sneak preview of this years new additions and have fun with the family as you take a spin under the illuminations.
