Having dazzled audiences with a sparkling ballet adaptation of Cinderella in 2018, the award-winning Ballet Cymru return to The Dukes this November with a dynamic ballet production of William Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet.
As a company that pushes the boundaries of classical ballet, the Welsh troupe are known for their twists on the traditional. Romeo & Juliet follows suit as it fuses Sergei Prokofiev’s iconic classical score with extraordinary video projections and dramatic choreography, courtesy of Creative Wales Award-winning choreographer, Darius James OBE.
Audiences can also expect exquisite costuming, passionate duets and compelling fight scenes as the company recreate Shakespeare’s tragic romance of two young lovers caught in an age old feud.
This captivating and innovative production is an exciting collaboration with Coreo Cymru and The Riverfront in Newport, uniting three of Wales’ outstanding arts organisations. The Dukes welcome it to their theatre at 7.30pm on Saturday November 16.
Tickets are priced £18 for adults/£16.50 concessions. Tickets for Under 18s cost £14. To book, ring The Dukes box office on 01524 598500 or visit www.dukes-lancaster.org
