In What's On

The Dukes’ season of outdoor cinema in Williamson Park begins this Wednesday, with Monty Python’s anarchic comedy Life of Brian (12A) getting their series of Sunset Screenings underway.

There will also be even more big screen delights to enjoy under the stars in The Dell, as The Dukes have announced that their programme of movie magic has now been extended until Saturday August 24.

Adding three new films to their previously-announced line-up, this additional fortnight will include screenings of the iconic Dirty Dancing (12A), charming comedy Hunt for the Wilderpeople (12A) and the smash hit A Star is Born (15).

There are also chances for audiences to see award-winning documentary Free Solo (12A), horror hit Us (15), Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody (12A), family favourite The Princess Bride (PG), sing-along screenings of Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again (PG), iconic British horror The Wicker Man (15), bold satire Sorry to Bother You (15) and dino-classic Jurassic Park (PG).

The cinema programme’s opening week also coincides with Keep Britain Tidy’s national Love Parks Week, providing the perfect opportunity to celebrate the stunning outdoor setting of Lancaster’s beloved Williamson Park and its diverse events.

The Dukes’ Sunset Screenings are part of the venue’s exciting new project to bring film to different settings and unusual locations across Lancaster and Morecambe, and is backed by Film Hub North.

Start times for the screenings vary between 9pm and 8.15pm to match the changing sunset times; cinema-goers are advised to check in advance.

For more information or to book tickets visit www.dukes-lancaster.org/sunset-screenings or call 01524 598500. Standard tickets are priced £9.50 or £6.50 for Dukes members and under-21s, with concessions also available.
