Critters 2 You at Thornton Hall Country Park

As well as the usual farm fun this Friday at Thornton Hall Country Park there will be some very special guests from Critters 2 You. Get up close and learn more about these friendly visitors including snakes, lizards, spiders, mini beasts and more.

All this is included in the standard entry price that includes hands on animal encounters on a traditional working farm like lamb feeding, egg collecting and an adventure play area.

Ribble Valley Literary Festival
Northcote, Langho, Blackburn
17 – 19 August 2018

Bringing together distinguished authors including The Countess of Carnarvon, Helena Attlee, Felix Francis and Salley Vickers and legendary broadcaster Nicholas Parsons, the festival takes place over three days at Northcote, the award-winning restaurant & boutique hotel.

Guests are invited to hear each author talk about their life as a writer and their recent book while enjoying a delicious menu of Michelin-starred food and wine in the glorious setting of Northcote's Louis Roederer Room and Champagne Terrace.

Lytham 1940s Wartime Weekend

The 1940s Wartime period brought to life with a bang! Come join in the atmosphere on Lytham Green and throughout Lytham and immerse yourself in a brilliant weekend of live entertainment, re-enactments and have-a-go fun.

Historic Vehicles, static aircraft, music and dance, memorabilia stalls, thrilling battle re-enactments, educational talks and demonstrations plus living history camp.

Open Days & Guided Tours - Stonyhurst College

18 - 19 August 2018

This weekend The College, Chapel Museum and gardens will be open to the public for guided tours.

Visitors will have the opportunity to see the various chapels and historic rooms within the building. This includes the Great Hall with portraits of the seven former pupils awarded the Victoria Cross, and the table on which Cromwell is reputed to have slept the night before the Battle of Preston in 1648.

Guided tours will run at set times throughout the day and will include entry to the Chapel Museum. Café facilities onsite, as well as entry to the gardens

A LONG TIME AGO, IN A GALAXY FAR, FAR AWAY…

Take in themed displays featuring your favourite science fiction and pop culture characters. Stop for a selfie with a cyborg or dab with Darth Vader!

This dog walking morning is open to anyone who wants to bring along their pooch and even to people that might not have dogs but just love being around them! They will start at 10am, meeting at The Golden Ball and then go on an easy circular walk back to the pub. Simply turn up, no need to pre-book.
