Ever wanted to create your own unique sounds? This workshop, guided by artist Tom Richards, offers a fun introduction to electronic music creation. No prior experience or soldering skills required.
You will be guided through building a simple synthesizer, inspired by the Theremin, a classic instrument controlled by hand movements. However, this version uses light. At the end of the workshop, you'll be able to take your new DIY instrument home with you.
Workshop leader, Tom Richards is an artist, musician, DJ, researcher and instrument designer, who has built his own idiosyncratic modular electronic music system, with which he creates slowly evolving and heavily textured polyrhythmic improvisations.
This event is part of Waterfoot Wakes, including a parade, theatre, music, craft, workshops and more.
