Grant Sharkey's satirical musical Webber is an absolute hoot. It's an all-sung-through comedy rock cabaret with witty lyrics and a powerful score. Sharkey is an engaging host, welcoming the audience and quite surprised at the large number of people who have turned out to see the show. There is something quite charming with his interactions with them, and there is loads of friendly audience participation, which was enthusiastically received.
Obsessed with becoming a lord, Webber makes a Faustian pact with the eternal spirit of Ruining Everything who looks suspiciously like Margaret Thatcher. Hilarious ear worms, laser-focused wit and no holds barred. See it before the cease and desist arrives. Impeccably well researched and somehow still incredibly funny, whilst remaining unafraid to speak truth to power, Grant Sharkey is a comedian, satirist and composer whose previous Edinburgh shows include: are you worthy?
With songs that parody, Thank You For the Money and Actors Will Do Anything, this is a fast-paced romp that's delightfully exhausting to watch and performed with panache and knockabout comedy. A real treat.
