SKINT Festival: Scrapper
The first feature by exciting new British Director Charlotte Regan. Living alone in her flat, 12-year-old Georgie must confront reality when her estranged father, Jason, shows up out of nowhere. Uninterested in a new parental figure, she remains resistant to his efforts. As they both adjust, Georgie and Jason find that they have a lot of growing up to do. '[Scrapper] proves that working-class stories don't have to be all misery and angst. Sometimes, that kitchen sink can be filled with bubbles... The bond that slowly grows between [father and daughter gives] the feeling of a blank canvas being filled. Like Scrapper itself, it's painted in the warmest colours,' Time Out.
