Longridge will come alive on the evening of Thursday 25 November when the town celebrates "Longridge Does Christmas". Organised by traders' group Love Longridge and supported by the Town Council, the evening promises to be a family-friendly festival of Christmas fun, shopping, live entertainment and great food.
The shops will remain open until 9pm for those Christmas essentials and gifts, Longridge Band will play and choirs will sing. Live music will be heard around the town and include Geno Eccles and an Elton John tribute.
For the younger children there will be Father Christmas in his grotto, an elf hunt, ponies masquerading as reindeer (!) and fairground rides. Numerous hot food stalls will be present and there will be other stalls to add to the town's already fabulous retail offering. The various attractions are spread through Longridge, so get on your walking shoes and enjoy the evening.
Speaking for the organising team, Gary Ward of Raymond James Investment Services said: "We are so excited to bring Christmas activities back to Longridge. We have tried to plan an evening of fun, when the town can come together and celebrate its fantastic businesses and show them its support. Late night shopping in Longridge is a long-held tradition and we want to build on that and re-affirm what a great place Longridge is. Of all the places in the UK, Longridge is the place to shop local, eat local and enjoy local."
Mayor Bryan Dalgleish-Warburton noted: "I am humbled to consider the many charitable and voluntary organisations that are supported by residents and businesses in Longridge. The spirit of compassion and community is warmly felt in our town and this Christmas we hope to experience something near to "normal" and celebrate this sense of giving and communal pride. The town's businesses have responded magnificently to the effects of the pandemic and continued to support their customers and the town in innovative ways, offering exceptional products and service throughout."
