Work causes a single mother to move to China with her young son; in his new home, the boy embraces kung fu, taught to him by a master.
Dre, a young boy, finds himself bullied by Cheng, a rebellious kung fu prodigy at his school. However, things change after he befriends Mr Han, a maintenance man, who happens to be a kung fu expert.
"The Karate Kid" undergoes a cultural shift of its own: the 1984 film featured a heavily white cast and was fully in English; in 2010, the film stemmed out from this original plotline to offer bilingual dialogue and more cultural representation behind kung fu.
