Arts for Wellbeing Pendle is proud to present Journey Through the 12 Steps, a powerful and compelling theatre production created and performed by Elisha House Recovery Community.

This moving production gives voice to men in recovery from addiction, who share their own raw and honest stories on stage.

Directed by artist Donna Worthington, this is the fourth production developed with Elisha House Recovery Community and brings together storytelling, movement, songs, forum theatre and vividly devised scenes drawn directly from the performers’ lived experiences.  Audiences are taken on an emotional and hopeful journey through the 12 Steps, offering insight, understanding and a powerful message of hope.

The performance follows the success of Thread of Hope in 2024 and Theatre of Hope in 2025 and marks the community’s third production at The Muni Theatre, continuing to raise awareness of the realities and impacts of addiction.  Elisha House Recovery Community will deliver another thought‑provoking and inspiring performance.

Artist Donna Worthington has worked closely with Elisha House Recovery Community in Colne to write, devise and perform this original piece of theatre and Arts for Wellbeing Pendle is honoured to continue to support a project that demonstrates the power of creativity in recovery and wellbeing.

“Watching Thread of Hope meant so much to me, and I know it meant a lot to others too. It wasn’t just something to watch—it reflected the reality of where our addiction had taken us. It showed the struggles, the pain and the moments we often try to hide or forget. But at the same time, it reminded us that we’re not alone in what we’ve been through.”

Manager at Elisha House Community Recovery: “It just blows me away to see the lads from start to finish of each production. Obviously i have been involved as well so I understand the nerves and the self obsession but the bravery these guys have is amazing. To watch them grow in confidence after each rehearsal and watch it all coming together. They seem to walk taller. The performances themselves have been so powerful and the feedback we have had is unreal - we have had referrals off the back of these productions and people come to us for help.  I really believe they have saved lives. They have certainly helped spread the message that there is hope.”

The event forms part of the Arts for Wellbeing Pendle programme, managed by Pendle Leisure Trust.  We’re honoured to be a part of this wonderful piece of theatre that aims to inspire others to know that there is always hope.

Arts for Wellbeing Pendle continues to work behind the scenes to bring more meaningful and socially impactful performances like this to communities across Pendle in the future.
