The well-loved feel-good musical Mamma Mia came to Winter Gardens Blackpool last night, for the first of 8 performances. We were lucky enough to visit and we simply haven't stopped thinking about it since.
Featuring many of the hit ABBA songs that we all know and love, this feel-good musical really is must-see.
Set on a beautiful Greek island in paradise, the simple but effective sets really do have the audience engrossed in the tale from the start.
The story starts when Sophie is about to be married to her fiancé Sky and wants her Dad to walk her down the aisle. However after reading her mum's diary, she is shocked to discover that there were three possible fathers – Sam Carmoichael, Bill Anderson and Harry Bright. All three are invited to the wedding and soon arrive on the island – which is where the fun begins!
This musical really does have it all – humour, emotion and of course plenty of ABBA songs cleverly intertwined into the story. Last night's cast all brought the high energy and had such talent that you simply cannot take your eyes of the show.
We won't go into any more detail as we'd hate to ruin any surprises for you, but one highlight we can't fail to mention is the ABBA mega mix which was a fantastic end to the show as it had the entire audience on their feet dancing away – who doesn't love a boogie to ABBA!
