Get ready for a quacking good time! One of the region’s most anticipated family events, the annual Duck Race at WWT Martin Mere, is making a spectacular return this early May Bank Holiday. And for the first time ever, it’s expanding into a full weekend of fun.
Thousands of visitors are expected to flock to Martin Mere as hundreds of brightly coloured rubber ducks take to the water, racing head-to-head in a thrilling bid for first place. A firm favourite with families year after year, the event promises excitement, laughter, and a splash of friendly competition.
This year’s races will take place across three days:
- Saturday 2 May & Sunday 3 May at 2:00pm
- Bank Holiday Monday 4 May at 12:00pm, 2:00pm, and 4:00pm
Victoria Fellowes, Visitor Experience Manager at WWT Martin Mere, said: “Due to overwhelming demand, we’re absolutely delighted to extend our duck races across the entire bank holiday weekend. It means even more families can join in the fun and be part of this much-loved tradition.”
But the excitement doesn’t stop at the finish line. Visitors can dive into a full day of nature-based adventures, including:
- Pond dipping sessions (1:30pm – 3:00pm), where children can uncover fascinating underwater creatures
- The award-winning canoe safari, offering a unique journey through the stunning wetlands (additional cost)
- Encounters with over 70 species of wetland wildlife, from flamboyant flamingos to playful otters
- Adventure play areas for hours of sliding, zip-lining, swinging and climbing
With something for all ages, the Duck Race weekend is the perfect way to celebrate the bank holiday Monday. Rubber ducks can be purchased and coloured in the craft room for £3.50, then entered into the race for free.
General admission applies, with free entry for WWT members. For more information and to plan your visit, head to the WWT Martin Mere website

Stefan After yet another round of clicking through sluggish, ad‑ridden gaming guides, I nearly gave up. Then I stumbled on this page – it loads in a snap, the layout is clean, and there's zero pop‑up spam. They list game providers, bonus terms, and payout timelines in plain English. No fluff, no fine‑print tricks. If you're tired of wasting time on messy comparison sites, save this one: Parik24 https://wikitia.com/wiki/Parik24 It's been a genuine time‑saver for me. Noname Not all sites are created equal, and I’ve learned that the hard way over the years of exploring the web. I gave https://www.cheshirecountyshow.org.uk/ a try after a friend in the United Kingdom praised their customer service response times. I had a small question about the login process, and they cleared it up in minutes. Having that kind of reliable support in the background makes a huge difference in how much you can actually relax and enjoy. AndreyKiyko We took the kids to the duck race at WWT Martin Mere over the bank holiday and it turned into a brilliant family day. They coloured their own rubber ducks in the craft area then cheered wildly as the colourful batch raced across the water – plenty of laughs when ours zigzagged but still finished strong. The extra races this year meant we could stay longer, mixing it with pond dipping and watching the otters. While booking our travel I needed the royal air maroc customer service phone number https://royal-air-maroc.pissedconsumer.com/customer-service.html for a quick question. Great way to spend the weekend outdoors with the little ones.
