Visitors to Fairhaven Lake are in for a treat this spring as two significant improvement projects near completion, with the much-anticipated new visitor centre set to open its doors on Sunday 29 March as part of Fairhaven Open Day.
The beautiful Pagoda building – formerly home to the RSPB – has been transformed into a welcoming hub for families and visitors following a £25,000 conversion. The new visitor centre will offer refreshments, retail, event ticket sales and educational resources including the park’s beloved interactive timeline, bringing this iconic heritage building back to life as a real focal point for the community.
Alongside the visitor centre opening, Fylde Council has completed a significant lakeside safety improvement, installing over 300 metres of new heritage-style fencing around the lake. Funded through the Council’s capital programme at a cost of £67,826, the fencing runs from Stanner Bank to the visitor centre and from opposite the boathouse through to the popular Pirate Cove children’s play area. Designed to complement Fairhaven’s heritage character, the fencing has already been warmly received by visitors, and final painting will be completed ahead of Easter.
Councillor Jayne Nixon, Lead Member for Tourism, Leisure and Culture, said: "Fairhaven Lake continues to go from strength to strength, and these two projects are a fantastic example of the investment we're making to ensure everyone can enjoy this wonderful destination safely. The new visitor centre will be a brilliant addition - a warm, welcoming space that truly reflects the best of what Fairhaven has to offer. Combined with the beautiful new heritage fencing, the lake is looking better than ever, and I can't wait for visitors to come and see it for themselves at our Open Day on Sunday 29 March."
Fairhaven Open Day takes place on Sunday 29 March from 11am to 4pm. Everyone is welcome to come along, explore the new visitor centre and enjoy everything Fairhaven Lake has to offer.
