Back by popular demand, Mudfest is returning to WWT Martin Mere from 14–22 February 2026, inviting families across the North West to stomp, splash and squelch their way into the wonderful world of wetlands this February half term.

Designed for children to embrace the outdoors and get joyfully messy, Mudfest offers one week of muddy magic.

Visitors can dive into a packed programme of activities, from creating the best mud-cake as part of a timed muddy bake-off, taking on the obstacle-course challenges, or making the biggest splash at the North West Puddle Jumping Championships. Families can discover just how marvellous mud is and learn how it plays such a vital role in superpowered wetlands.

“Mudfest is all about embracing the mess – it’s such a fun way for families to roll up their sleeves and really connect with nature,” said Nick Brooks, Centre Manager at WWT Martin Mere.

“Mud isn’t just messy – it’s magical. A single cubic metre of estuary mud holds the same calorific content as 16 chocolate bars, showing just how important mud is for wetland wildlife.”

Alongside the week of muddy mayhem, there’s plenty of opportunities to explore the wetland centre and get up-close to winter wildlife including experiencing the Daily Wild Bird Feed and seeing thousands of birds from the comfort of the Discovery Hide. Or, meet over 70 wetland species from around the world such as the adorable otters and fabulous flamingos.

All Mudfest activities are free for WWT members and included in the admission tickets, with the exception of paid crafts in the craft room. Non-members can also pre-book online to save 10% on their wetland adventure.

Mudfest runs from 14–22 February 2026 at WWT Martin Mere.

I don't like websites that are difficult to understand at first glance. Here, everything is different: the interface is logical, the games run smoothly, and navigation is convenient. In the United Kingdom, such solutions will definitely be in demand, and https://wagerland.org.uk leaves a pleasant impression.
