The world-famous Blackpool Tower Ballroom has once again taken centre stage, this time as a key filming location for Netflix Japanese romantic drama 10Dance.
Since its release on late last year it has been streamed more than 5 million times. It currently sits in 2nd place in the Japanese charts and in 5th place in the non-English global charts.
The film, directed by Keishi Ōtomo and based on Satoh Inoue’s manga, follows two rival dancers as they train each other across ballroom and Latin disciplines.
Throughout the film, the dancers visit Blackpool, showcasing key locations and attractions including the Blackpool Tower, the Imperial Hotel, Tower Festival Headland, and the Illuminations.
The Ballroom’s ornate architecture and historic dance floor provided the perfect backdrop for the film, reinforcing its reputation as one of the most iconic dance locations in the world.
This is not the first time the Ballroom has attracted international attention. Over the years, it has hosted numerous productions, from Tim Burton’s Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children and Camila Cabello Cinderella to BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing.
Kate Shane MBE, Managing Director of Blackpool Tourism Limited, said: “The Blackpool Tower Ballroom is a jewel in our crown, and productions like 10Dance showcase its magic to audiences worldwide. We are proud to attract crews from across the globe who recognise the Ballroom’s unique atmosphere and history.
“We were delighted to welcome the cast and crew earlier this year and facilitate filming locations across the resort. Blackpool offers so many opportunities for production companies, and we look forward to welcoming many more in 2026.”
10Dance is streaming now on Netflix.
