Phil Mealey brings Early Doors - Behind the Bar and Beyond to Lowther Pavilion

BAFTA-winning writer and performer Phil Mealey brings his brand-new one-man show, Early Doors – Behind the Bar and Beyond, to Lowther Pavilion, Lytham St Annes on Sunday 17 May 2026.

Best known as the co-writer and star of the much-loved BBC sitcom Early Doors, Mealey’s new live show offers audiences a rare opportunity to step behind the scenes of the iconic series. The evening features behind-the-scenes stories, fan-favourite clips, moments that never made it to the screen, and a selection of songs from the show, performed live by Mealey himself.

More than a retrospective, Behind the Bar and Beyond explores the friendships, relationships and everyday humour that shaped Early Doors, celebrating the warmth and ordinariness that made the series such a lasting favourite. Long-time fans will recognise familiar moments, while newcomers will enjoy an intimate, funny and revealing night of storytelling.

Alongside Early Doors, Phil Mealey has also written extensively for television, including work on The Royle Family — a legacy that subtly informs his writing and storytelling style throughout the evening.
