A popular venue in central Preston has launched an exciting programme of events for Christmas and New Year. Chew’s Yard, a food and drink hall and events space, will host DJs, live bands, acoustic acts, choirs and a Christmas Market over the festivities.
“We have pulled out all the stops, packing every weekend with free or low cost events to help the people of Lancashire celebrate the festivities,” said Frank Whiteley, Operations Manager. “Our food and drinks traders have launched their special Christmas menus.”
The events programme includes live music from local favourites Saraban, The Cathedrals and Billy and The Biscuit Brothers as well as a unique 1980s Christmas Videotheque night featuring music videos from the era, funk, soul, disco and hip hop spun by DJ Jason Marx at the Festive Funk Foundation, as well as an Open Jam night open to all musicians and vocalists, choirs, and a brass band.
On Thursday 18th December, at 7pm, the venue will host a Christmas Singalong led by Chrissie from Sing Preston to raise money for The Foxton Centre.
On New Year's Eve, the venue hosts mainstay of the Northern scene DJ Chris Hunter who will be spinning diva-led disco and uplifting soulful house at the venue’s NYE Disco Underground night.
“You might recognise Chris’ name from residences at Feel and Cheeky Monkey,” said Frank. “Some of our Christmas events have already sold out so we recommend that you purchase your tickets in advance, either by contacting Chew’s Yard directly or booking via Skiddle.”
The food and drinks hall features five food and drinks traders, an atmospheric events space and garden. The venue welcomes children with their families and is dog friendly. Parking is available opposite the venue at Trinity Square Car Park, where Preston City Council is offering free parking at certain days / times throughout the festive season.
