King Street Arts Christmas gift to the community is their Art Fair which takes place at The Storey in Lancaster from December 4-13.

The ninth annual event, which features more than 300 artworks by more than 130 local and regional artists, has a faithful following of artists and visitors for whom the event has become a highlight of the run-up to Christmas.

It provides an opportunity to buy unique presents for friends and family or as a personal treat because all the work from paintings and photography to ceramics, sculpture, printmaking and more is for sale.

King Street Arts was founded by local artists, Roy Smith and Kath McDonald in 2017 with the aim of connecting artists with the public and providing creative opportunities for all.

“The Art Fair is based on the same principle as the Royal Academy Summer Show, exhibiting the work of seasoned artists who work with galleries alongside first time exhibitors and we’d like to thank the local artist community for their support in getting this show on the road,” said Roy and Kath.

All works on display are handmade and are the unique creations of the artists. In addition to the main exhibits, there’s also a variety of smaller gifts for sale including jewellery, handmade wooden pens, clocks in handmade cases, prints and greeting cards.

Thanks to support from Lancaster BID, King Street Arts have also organised some festive workshops at their King Street studios. Make a table centerpiece with Pauline Bates takes place on November 27 from 6.30-9pm while Catriona Stamp leads a workshop creating polymer clay decorations on December 11 from 6.30-9pm. December 13 is an opportunity to make an origami Christmas star with Sian Peters from 10am-12.30pm. Materials are supplied at all these workshops and participants are asked to pay what they can afford. Places must be booked in advance at https://www.kingstreetstudios.art/activities

Admission to the Art Fair in The Storey’s main gallery is free. It is open Monday-Friday, 10-4pm and Saturdays, 10am-5pm from December 4-13.
