As it creeps closer to Halloween, the weekend's events get creepier, have you got what it takes to enjoy a scare fest in Lancashire? Thankfully if you want something a little less spooky, the region has a number of other events for you to enjoy too.

Ascarium: After Dark, Sea LIFE Blackpool
24th & 25th and 30th & 31st October
A brand new after dark experience is coming to Blackpool’s Sea LIFE. Did you know the attraction is built on the historic grounds of Luna Park, once home to ghost trains and carnival oddities? For 4 nights only, including Halloween, you can experience the creatures of the dark that lurk underwater, and a few extras harking back to those times. Prepare to be scared as you journey into the depths of this fright-fest.
Rossendale Art Trail
24th - 26th October
Art lovers unite! This weekend there will be a number of open studios throughout Rossendale, with over 50 artists, including musicians, printers, textile artists and more, showcasing their work. There are stops in Haslingden, Helmshore and Rawtenstall, with many exhibitions and events taking place at Horse + Bamboo in Waterfoot starting with the Cacophany Arkestra kicking off three days of music.
The HAPPA Halloween Spooktacular Party
24th October
Join Shores Hey Farm in Burnley, for a frightfully fun evening at The HAPPA Halloween Spooktacular Party. This family friendly party night will involve disco, glitter tattoos, party games, fancy dress competition and more, with fantastic prizes up for grabs. The cafe will be serving a selection of spooky themed specials.
St Annes Fylde Fest
25th October
Head to St Annes for the brand-new Fylde Fest a free public event in the newly developed St Annes Square. Showcasing the region’s rich heritage, creativity and community spirit, it will be jam-packed with fabulous food, music and entertainment from all around the borough. Bake Off: The Professionals star Raf Perussi will also be offering live demonstrations too. Add in street performers, storytelling, traditional games, craft workshops and heritage trails that bring the region’s history and people to life, and there’s something for everyone. Local favourites will also be part of the action, with shops, cafés and restaurants bringing their ‘inside out’ to offer tasters, special offers and unique experiences.
Halloween Spooky Trains, Ribble Steam Railway
25th – 26th October
Step on board the Halloween specials on the Riverside. The Ribble Steam Railway weekend of freakish family fun is here. Enjoy ghostly goings on as spooky activities take place around the museum and on the iconic steam trains.
Lightpool Festival
The award-winning Lightpool Festival is back, lighting up the night for nine evenings from Friday 20 October to Saturday 28 October. Enjoy a spectacular programme of light-based art installations, live performances, 3D projection shows and family-friendly activities.
Fun filled Half Term Events
Explore the Super natural Week at Martin Mere
25th October – 2nd November
This Halloween, escape the ghouls and goblins, and step into a super-natural adventure that will leave big and little nature fans spellbound.
For one week only visitors can make magical memories and experience the wonder of wetlands through enchanting activities. Pick up a super-natural log book and go on a wetland adventure, weave a little magic with a handmade willow wand, examine an owl pellet to find out what they eat for breakfast, mix a magical potion and much, much more.
Spooky Supervillains Week at Affinity Lancashire
25th October – 1st November
Affinity Lancashire is set for a full half term of Halloween related fun!
The team is celebrating the spooky season with Spooky Supervillains Week, a half term packed full of free family fun. Come and meet the supervillains, enjoy Monstrous Magic Shows, take part in the tiny villain's trick or treat trail, make a Cauldron Mocktail or magic mirror in the exciting workshops or dance at the Villains Halloween Ball!

Light Up Lancaster Explore Week
27th – 31st October
In preparation of the exciting Light Up Lancaster, which returns to the city on 6th –8th November, Explore Week is back! This week of free activities, family friendly engagement and participation with fun and exciting sessions allows kids to discover the art of science and leading up to the main festival. With workshops carried out by fabulous artists, creative technologists and arts companies, a range of researchers and academics from Lancaster University, Explore Week will reveal fascinating insights and learning about light, art and science.
