What a Well Respected Company! The full cast has just been announced for the multi-award-winning hit musical SUNNY AFTERNOON at Blackpool Grand Theatre.

Come Dancing from Tuesday 28 April to Saturday 2 May 2026 to experience this talented team bringing the raw energy, passion and timeless sound of The Kinks to The Grand for one week only…

As previously announced, Danny Horn will play the introspective genius Ray Davies, Oliver Hoare will take on the role of his fiery and flamboyant brother Dave Davies, Harry Curley will play the steady bassist Peter Quaife and Zakarie Stokes will be keeping the beat alive as drummer Mick Avory, as all four bring the unmistakable 1960s swagger of The Kinks to life in this smash hit musical.

Just revealed! TV favourite Ben Caplan (Call the Midwife, Band of Brothers) will return as infamous music executive Eddie Kassner, who signed The Kinks to a management and publishing deal in 1964. Joining him is acclaimed theatre actor Tam Williams (The Tempest, Miss Littlewood), reprising his role as the band’s first manager Grenville Collins. Both actors won high praise for their performances in the original Hampstead Theatre and West End productions of this multi Olivier Award-winning stage spectacular which charts the euphoric highs and agonising lows of one of Britain’s most iconic bands.

They will be joined by former UK tour cast members Victoria Anderson as Gwen, Deryn Edwards as Mrs. Davies, Joseph Richardson as Robert Wace, Lisa Wright as Rasa and James Hudson to tell the sensational story of The Kinks through their incredible back catalogue of chart-toppers, including You Really Got Me, Lola, Waterloo Sunset and All Day and All of the Night, all set against the backdrop of Britain on the cusp of the rebellious '60s and is an exhilarating celebration of the music, the life and the band that changed it all.

The company is completed by Alicia Ally, Morgan Burgess, James Chisholm, Phil Corbitt, Alasdair Craig, Dominic Gee-Burch, Kristian Jacobs, Robin Johnson, Sorrel Jordan, Jada Langley, Timothy Roberts, Georgiana Wainwright-Jones and Emily Whitby-Samways

Producer Sonia Friedman said: “From the very first workshop we produced, when I heard that incredible music played live in the room, I knew I had to produce this show. The songs don’t just get under your skin – they live in your veins, they stay with you forever. Paired with such honest, powerful storytelling, Sunny Afternoon became one of the most unforgettable theatre experiences of my life. To see it go on to win multiple Olivier Awards, including Best New Musical, was simply extraordinary – but what really matters to me is that the spirit of The Kinks’ music and their story still connects so deeply with audiences today.”

“I’ve missed this show, so I’m beyond thrilled that it’s back on the road, giving new generations the chance to experience – or relive – the sheer joy, energy and heart of Sunny Afternoon. Huge congratulations to the brilliant company keeping its spirit alive.”

Ray Davies added: “We’ve assembled a fantastic company to retell our story and look forward to seeing them breathe new life into the production on tour. I hope Sunny Afternoon will be a much-needed tonic for people.”

The Kinks are recognised as one of the most important and influential British rock groups of all time. They were formed in Muswell Hill, North London, in 1964 by brothers Ray and Dave Davies alongside Pete Quaife and Mick Avory. From their explosive beginnings as part of the British Beat movement to forays into concept albums, stadium rock and acoustic balladeering; The Kinks have left a powerful legacy of classic songs from Waterloo Sunset to Days, many of which form the building blocks of popular music as we know it today. In 1990, all four original members were inducted into the prestigious American Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame and the UK Music Hall of Fame in 2005.

Sunny Afternoon features music and lyrics by the legendary Ray Davies, a book by Joe Penhall, original story by Ray Davies and direction by Edward Hall. Vocal adaptations are by Ray Davies and Elliott Ware based on original Kinks’ recordings.
