Get ready to rock out All Day and All of The Night to the raw energy, passion and timeless sound of The Kinks as the cast is announced for the multi-award-winning hit musical SUNNY AFTERNOON at Blackpool Grand Theatre from Tuesday 28 April to Saturday 2 May 2026.
The multi Olivier Award-winning hit musical Sunny Afternoon is set against the backdrop of Britain on the cusp of the rebellious '60s and is an exhilarating celebration of the music, the life and the band that changed it all.
Danny Horn will play the introspective genius Ray Davies, Oliver Hoare will take on the role of his fiery and flamboyant brother Dave Davies, Harry Curley will play the steady bassist Peter Quaife and Zakarie Stokes will be keeping the beat alive as drummer Mick Avory, as all four bring the unmistakable 1960s swagger of The Kinks to life in this smash hit musical. Additional casting to be revealed.
The Kinks are recognised as one of the most important and influential British rock groups of all time. They were formed in Muswell Hill, North London, in 1964 by brothers Ray and Dave Davies alongside Pete Quaife and Mick Avory. From their explosive beginnings as part of the British Beat movement to forays into concept albums, stadium rock and acoustic balladeering; The Kinks have left a powerful legacy of classic songs from Waterloo Sunset to Days, many of which form the building blocks of popular music as we know it today. In 1990, all four original members were inducted into the prestigious American Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame and the UK Music Hall of Fame in 2005.
Danny Horn returns to play The Kinks’ lead singer/songwriter and guitarist Ray Davies having starred in the role for over a year in the West End. He most recently reprised the role in the North American premiere at the Chicago Shakespeare Theatre. Other theatre credits include The Bah Humbug Club, We’ll Dance on the Ash of The Apocalypse, Reclaim the Night, The Dead Dogs and The Revenger's Tragedy. TV and film credits include The Kinks Are The Village Green Preservation Society, Riot Women, Doctors, Hetty Feather, Doctor Who, Emmerdale and Vera.

His TV and film credits include The Sixth Commandment, Casualty, Game Face and People Just Do Nothing. Music and composition credits include Sink, Wrong Turn 5 and Thanks for the Memories. Oliver has released three EPs with his band Oliver Hoare & The Late Great, performing at festivals including Latitude and Henley Festival.
Harry Curley can currently be seen in Sing Street at the Lyric Hammersmith. His other credits include Cinderella, Oh! What a Lovely War, Once, Summer in the City and Caligari.
Zakarie Stokes makes his professional debut in Sunny Afternoon. Whilst training at the Guildford School of Acting his credits included Our Town, Alice by Heart and The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time.
Ray Davies said of the casting announcement: “I’m pleased that Danny and Oliver are rejoining Sunny Afternoon after their brilliant run in Chicago and look forward to Harry and Zakarie joining the band. Well done to everyone involved in making this wonderful Sunny Afternoon musical.”
