Perfect for food lovers, a visit to Northcote’s Cookery School is the ultimate foodie experience gift, a fun corporate day out, or simply a way for budding chefs to hone their craft. It offers hands-on, elevated culinary learning in the heart of a working professional kitchen.
With new lessons covering at home banquets, BBQ mastery and posh picnics, plus an exclusive course led by Northcote’s Chef Patron, Lisa Goodwin-Allen, the 2025 curriculum is designed to inspire and advance the home cookery skills for all abilities and any occasion.

Picnic Hamper
There’s nothing like a homemade picnic to make outdoor dining truly special. In this hands-on course at Northcote Cookery School, guests will create a luxurious picnic hamper filled with handcrafted, seasonal delights. Master delicious sausage rolls, a traditional hand-raised pork pie and a crusty white bloomer. Prepare cured salmon and two classic condiments: homemade piccalilli and a rich tomato and raisin chutney. At the end of the course, guests will leave with their own beautifully prepared picnic hamper.
Al Fresco Dining
Discover the secrets behind Northcote’s iconic outdoor dinner parties. From sourcing the finest ingredients and where to find them, to expert tips and tricks straight from the Northcote kitchen – learn how to create the ultimate al fresco dining experience in your own home. Designed specially by Chef Patron-Director Lisa Goodwin-Allen, this course is sure to prepare you for hosting duties throughout summer and beyond.

Far Eastern Asian Flavours
An excellent way to improve cooking skills and experience the flavours of Far East Asia through an immersive course offering a unique insight into the cuisine and culture of the region. Have a go at noodle making, create sushi California roll and hand formed Nigiri, alongside dim sum gyoza and Korean fried chicken bao buns.
Taste of Italy
A Mediterranean masterclass in Sicily, the home of flavour. Using carefully sourced produce, guests will explore traditional recipes and techniques, creating beautifully shaped pasta, a vibrant Seabass Puttanesca and a rich, creamy Classic Carbonara. To finish, indulge in a decadent Tiramisu that perfectly captures the essence of Sicily.
Indian Banquet
A culinary adventure through Mumbai’s famous spice markets with the guidance of expert chefs, guests will learn how to infuse meals with the unique flavours of Mumbai’s traditional spices. Create traditional Indian meals, including handmade naan, vibrant chutneys and pickles and perfectly spiced lamb samosas. Culminating in mastering the art of balancing spice and flavour with a rich and creamy butter chicken, paired beautifully with fragrant Jeera rice.

The Ultimate Northcote Cookery Week
Embark on this week-long masterclass that takes guests deep into the heart of Northcote’s kitchen and wine cellar. This all-encompassing course covers an extensive range of skills and techniques, such as smoking, curing, pastry making, butchery, fishmongery, wine pairing and more.
It is designed to be hands-on, lectures and demonstrations on a variety of topics, with practical sessions to put the theory into practice. Learn how to prepare and cook a variety of dishes from simple classics to more sophisticated recipes. Learn additional skills such as menu planning and wine pairing too.
Two diploma courses are available on 9th September and 11th November priced from £1300.00. A special Bed & Breakfast rate on hotel rooms is available at Northcote, Sunday – Thursday at £200.00 per night.

Housed inside Northcote’s luxurious manor house in the heart of Lancashire's Ribble Valley, the Cookery School is a unique and immersive place to learn skills for life. Set within the Michelin star kitchen, separated only by glass doors from the professional kitchens and the Northcote brigade, guests get a rare, behind-the-scenes look into the workings of a world-class culinary operation.
After a light breakfast and tour of the kitchen, guests spend the day preparing dishes using state-of-the-art equipment and learning from Northcote’s warm and knowledgeable Cookery School tutors. Each session culminates in a two-course lunch in the award-winning Northcote restaurant, complete with a glass of wine.
Whether it's seafood, patisserie, bread making or BBQ mastery, Northcote’s Cookery School courses are meticulously designed by chef patron Lisa Goodwin-Allen and her team. The emphasis is on seasonal and regional produce, sourced from Northcote’s extensive network of local and British suppliers.
All levels of experience are welcome. The schedule is paced to ensure it is both insightful and accessible, allowing guests to learn valuable techniques without feeling overwhelmed.
Every attendee takes home a branded apron and bag, all the food they prepare, and a full recipe pack to recreate the dishes at home.
