The towns beloved Southern style restaurant and bar, re-opens following an exciting re-fresh…
The popular Hickory’s Smokehouse restaurant and neighbourhood bar in Southport, has swung open its doors again this weekend following the re-fresh. Excitement has been building this week as the team have been busy behind the scenes, making changes to the interior and exterior of the much-loved restaurant to mark over seven years of Southern hospitality just a couple of miles outside the town centre, on Folkstone Road, Kew.
So, what to expect…
Guests can still expect the same warm & welcoming environment that Hickory’s are known for but can look forward to some changes. Expect spacious dining areas with cosy booths and larger tables for get-togethers, along with Southern design touches to give the whole place a truly authentic feel. The relaxed neighbourhood bar is the ideal spot locally for guests to pop in for drinks, it now boasts additional seating, with better views of the multiple screens, perfect for catching all the latest local and American sports.
And, with Southport being the home of the Flower Show the garden has also been re-imagined with brand new seating, and their signature huts have been replaced. The new addition huts have comfy seating & their own heating - still the perfect spot even when the temperatures are more Southport than Southern States!
And of course they haven’t forgotten younger guests! There is an all-new outdoor play area for them to enjoy in the garden, along with the much-loved Movie Room which has had a refresh too.
General Manager, Adam Findlay said: ‘We cannot wait to welcome guests back after our refresh. We have loved re-imagining our spaces and getting the place ready for more BBQ, sport and good times!” Adam, who started out as a server the day they first opened the doors has been getting to know the locals for many years and is passionate about giving the community a truly authentic experience.
“We can’t wait to see what guests think of what we’ve done to the place. Hopefully, we will see lots of familiar faces from the past 7 years, we’re so grateful to all our guests who have supported us since we first opened. And we’re looking forward to welcoming new guests and introducing them to all things BBQ. It’s great to be back doing what we love – looking after our guests and firing up the smokers.”
Still to try Hickory’s?
Known for their unique blend of authentic smokehouse dishes combined with an inventive drinks & cocktail offering, the Hickory’s team really do look to welcome everyone and are famous for their inclusive, community focussed, family friendly vibe. The menu is packed full of the flavours of the Deep South, with classic smokehouse dishes such as Memphis ribs, Texas-style brisket and BBQ pulled pork all smoked low ‘n’ slow in their “Southern Pride” smoker. And let’s not forget burgers, mac and cheese and steaks, alongside a tasty range of vegetarian options. The brunch menu isn't one to skip over either. Available every day until 2pm, you can look to enjoy Southern staples like their Hickory's muffins, homemade pancakes or try something different with their Honey Bird Cinna-Bun or the chicken fried waffle.
Families love the epic freakshakes and desserts, including Hickory's famous Fro-Co frozen custard, where little ones can head over to the interactive Fro-Co Creation Station and use quarters to pick their favourite toppings.
With generous portion sizes, smokehouse favourites and more BBQ classics than you can handle, our advice is, arrive hungry and get ready to fall in love with the authentic tastes of the Southern States. Hickory’s is open from midday Monday – Friday, 10am every Saturday & Sunday and they’re open until late every night of the week.
