Blackpool Air Show is set to return on 9 and 10 August with two days of spectacular aerial displays from some of the world’s finest military and civilian aircraft over the seafront.
Already confirmed, the RAF Red Arrows will perform on both days of the free event with thrilling aerobatics, colourful flypasts and precision teamwork.
The RAF Typhoon display team will take to the skies on both days too, bringing the noise to all those in the crowd.
New Squadron Leader, Nathan Shawyer, said: “Blackpool is a fantastic air show, a real stalwart of the display calendar in the UK. We are so pleased to be displaying in Blackpool during our 20th anniversary season.”
Returning for another year is the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, featuring the iconic Spitfire, Hurricane and the much-loved Avro Lancaster.
The AeroSuperBatics Team - the world’s only professional formation wing-walking team are also back, performing breath-taking sequence of acrobatic stunts, all whilst strapped to the top wings of the beautiful 1940s Boeing Stearman biplanes.
The line-up includes an impressive variety of aircraft displays from The Catalina, The Ravens, Strikemaster, Yak Trio, Calidus Autogyro, Muscle Pitts and Chipmunks.
Cllr Lynn Williams, Leader of Blackpool Council, said: “We’re incredibly proud to once again welcome thousands of visitors to town for the annual Blackpool Air Show, one of the UK’s most iconic free seaside events.”
“Blackpool has a rich history of celebrating aviation, having hosted the UK’s first official public flying meeting back in 1909. That legacy lives on today through the Air Show, which continues to captivate audiences across the Blackpool skyline.”
“This year’s Air Show promises to be another unmissable occasion in the resort’s free events programme, with headline performances from the world-famous RAF Red Arrows, the RAF Typhoon, and the inspiring Battle of Britain Memorial Flight. From vintage aircraft to advanced jets, there’s something for everyone to enjoy over the weekend!”
Back on the ground, there will be plenty to see and do in the Air Show Village, located between Central and North Piers.
It will include a wide range of stalls, attractions and food concessions, with military vehicles, weapon stands, attractions, and information and official merchandise stalls for various aircraft that will be performing over the weekend.
Here, there will be an opportunity to meet the ground crew of some of the aircraft and meet serving members of the forces, ask them about what they do and look at the equipment they use on a regular basis.
Visitors are encouraged to arrive in resort early to avoid any traffic congestion and stay over to take full advantage of the free two-day event.
