The much-loved Café at Walterz in Staining has undergone a truly tasty transformation - unveiling exciting new menus and a vibrant new outlook thanks to the arrival of homegrown culinary talent, Chef Nathan Shaw.
An exclusive event at Café at Walterz on Wednesday 18 June welcomed a glittering guestlist of local celebrities and media personalities, along with local councillors and officials, to enjoy a stunning selection of tempting taster dishes from Nathan’s new menu, followed by a quick pit stop to enjoy all the fun of the fair in Walterz Entertainment Centre.
Nathan and his team unveiled an incredible spread of small plates all bursting with flavour and creativity. Highlights included juicy Double Cheese Burgers, zesty Winged Buffalo Chicken paired with celeriac remoulade, fiery Peri Peri Chicken Bowls, Piggy Fries topped with Nathan’s signature Baconaise, Salt and Pepper Broccolini, and crispy Macaroni Cheese Bites. For dessert, indulgent Deep Fried Oreos and gooey Cookie Dough S’mores rounded out the feast in unforgettable style.
Comfort food meets kitchen wizardry at Café at Walterz as Nathan takes gastro-style classics for a spin, infusing bold flavours with locally sourced quality ingredients and a generous pinch of personality. Think retro street eats with a modern twist - loaded fries, stacked sliders, international boards, seriously good salad bowls and secret sauces made from scratch you’ll want to bottle and take home. Every dish – from morning bites to evening delights - is a nod to good times, shared experiences and flavour-packed fun.
“We’ve created a place where people can eat great food and get together, whatever the time of day, in one welcoming space,” says Nathan. “This relaunch marks the beginning of a transformation for Walterz - from a casual café to a fully-fledged destination dining spot; complete with themed nights, taste challenges and event menus. Look out for Tapas Nights, International Boards and even a fiery ‘Gerwyn Spice Challenge’ - our cheeky darts-themed nod to the popular Hot Ones format, but with my homemade sauces. It’s all about joy on the plate and off it.”
The Café at Walterz can be found at Walterz Entertainment Centre, which is based at Newton Hall Holiday Park in Staining - a popular leisure location belonging to Partington’s Holiday Parks. The Café at Walterz and the exciting entertainment Hub are open to the general public as well as the site’s holiday visitors and owners and combine the timeless charm of a circus fairground with cool dining choices in the Café and modern interactive games in Walterz Hub. Visitors to the Hub can take to the lanes on slick ten-pin bowling alleys; throw double tops at the innovative AR darts; team up for vintage game favourites from pool to pinball, and even battle it out in the kickass karaoke booths. Mic drops all round!
The Café at Walterz is now serving up Nathan’s exciting breakfast and lunch options daily, while Nathan’s evening menu is delivered right into the Hub of Walterz Entertainment Centre - so you can keep the good times rolling without missing a single bite of the culinary magic.
At just 24 years old, Nathan Shaw is already bringing big flavour and serious skill to the Walterz kitchen. Born and raised in Blackpool, Nathan’s culinary journey started at home, cooking side-by-side with his dad - and what began as a family passion quickly turned into a full-blown love affair with food. He worked his way up through the tough training ground of fast food outlets to become Chef de Partie at a top local gastro pub and eventually took charge at the popular Common in Blackpool - where he created the now famous menu. His signature Maple Chipotle Hot Sauce and Nathan’s Secret Burger Sauce are just some of the homemade delights now featured at Café at Walterz.
“The new menu is all about flavour-forward, honest food,” added Nathan. “Where sauces are king and every element is made from scratch in our kitchen. One dish I am particularly excited to bring to Café at Walterz is the Maple Chipotle Pork. Trust me - it slaps!”
Café at Walterz is open now, and everyone is welcome - whether it’s for a quick bite with the bestie, a fun night with family and friends, or a party venue with a difference; Walterz is ready to serve up a whole carnival of delicious delights. With free, parking right outside, full accessibility, and weekly deals like Walk-in Wednesdays (20% off games + a special dish after 4pm); it’s quickly becoming a go-to venue for locals and visitors alike.
Partington’s is a family-owned business based in Lancashire and run by joint Chief Executive Officers, Rob Kearsley and Andrea Challis. The brother and sister team are 4th generation family members of the leading local company and invested a whopping £2 million into Walterz in 2023 as part of their continuing commitment to creating memorable experiences, with a focus on fun, creativity, and innovation.
Rob and Andrea are thrilled to welcome Nathan Shaw to Café at Walterz as its new Head Chef. They said: “Nathan’s experience and passion for producing quality innovative dishes is just what we need to establish Walterz as the place to eat - whether it’s a visit to the café for breakfast at the weekend, a midweek lunch treat or tasty food whilst enjoying a game of ten-pin bowling. The launch of this exciting new menu is testament to our commitment to continuing to invest in Walterz Entertainment Centre as not only the number one venue for interactive social games, but THE place for friends and family to meet for great food and spend quality time together.”
