Do you sometimes feel anxious at the thought of visiting the theatre due to access issues?

Don’t worry! Blackpool Grand Theatre is here to help, with many provisions in place to help make each theatre visit a comfortable and enjoyable one for all, including an extra special Relaxed Performance of the fabulous family pantomime Sleeping Beauty so you don’t miss out on the magic this Christmas!

This carefully Relaxed Performance of Sleeping Beauty on Wednesday 28 December stars TV favourites Steve Royle (Britain’s Got Talent), Hayley Tamaddon (Dancing on Ice, Emmerdale) and Philip Meeks (Emmerdale, Heartbeat, Doctors) and is part of The Grand’s ongoing commitment to accessibility. And all tickets are £17!

There’s no need to be worried about making a noise, leaving and returning to your seat or accessing the toilets at any time during this special show, and there will be a chill-out space for patrons who may need a little time away from the fun. There will also be a few technical adjustments made to the performance, which include removing loud bangs, flashes and flashing lights.

The fun-packed pantomime itself will be unchanged and will still be jam-packed with marvellous music and dance, fun and laughter, stunning sets, amazing costumes and exciting special effects to keep audiences both young and old entertained.

We would suggest this Relaxed Performance of pantomime would especially benefit patrons with dementia, anxiety, Tourette’s, bowel and bladder conditions, an autism spectrum condition, or a learning disability, but sadly may not be suitable for customers with sensory sensitivities.

Accessibility also remains a priority at Blackpool Grand Theatre throughout the whole of the year with wheelchair spaces available for all performances and level access to the Stalls via the platform lift through the main foyer and via Stage Door Bar. Full information about all the access provisions of our venue, including our guides, maps, facilities including seating arrangements, assistance dogs, accessible performances, hearing loops and how to sign up to our Access Register, is available at https://www.blackpoolgrand.co.uk/box-office-and-venue/our-venue/accessibility
