As a mark of respect following the death of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, the Blackpool Illuminations display will not be lit tonight (Friday 9 September).

Instead, The Blackpool Tower will be illuminated in red, white and blue in tribute to a monarch who has served our country with the utmost strength, dignity and kindness.

The full display will resume tomorrow night, Saturday 10 September. The Blackpool Tower will be illuminated in red, white and blue throughout the period of mourning.

On the night of the actual funeral (date to be confirmed), the Illuminations will once again remain unlit. The display will then resume in full the following day.

We have also decided to postpone the first round of the World Fireworks Championship Blackpool on the night of Saturday 17 September because of the proximity to the State funeral. It will be rescheduled to October half-term. This means the revised dates for the four firework events are:

  • Saturday 1 October
  • Saturday 15 October
  • Thursday 27 October
  • Friday 28 October

I believe that now is not the ideal time to launch a business or a profession. But I'm still holding out hope that I can land the job I want. I made the decision to begin with producing a resume, and UK Careers Booster https://uk.careersbooster.com/ . I'm hoping a break from work won't have an impact on my professional abilities and that I'll land a respectable position.
