Winter Gardens Blackpool & Book Bean & Ice Cream have launched first ever

Word Fest. on 7th & 8th October

The organisers of the inaugural Word Fest. have confirmed a very special appearance of Rory Stewart and Alastair Campbell for a live version of the UK’s number 1 podcast ‘The Rest is Politics’ on Saturday 8th October 2022.

The debate will start at 8pm and will see Rory Stewart and Alastair Campbell, two men who have been at the heart of the political world, discuss that week’s biggest news stories and share some insight from their careers before a live Q&A with the audience.

Bringing back the lost art of ‘disagreeing agreeably’ they share their opinions from opposite ends of the political spectrum – Stewart is a former Conservative cabinet minister, while Campbell was Labour’s communications director under Tony Blair.

Now both estranged from their parties the pair’s podcast gives them the chance to say exactly what they think!

Rory Stewart has been an academic, writer, adventurer, politician and diplomat. After time in the Army and the diplomatic service, he trekked across Afghanistan, was appointed a fellow at Harvard, and wrote a number of books before entering Parliament.

Alastair Campbell is a writer, communicator and strategist best known for his role as former British Prime Minister Tony Blair’s spokesman, press secretary and director of communications and strategy. Still active in politics and campaigns in Britain and overseas, he now splits his time between writing, speaking, broadcasting, charities and consultancy.

He has written seventeen books in the past fourteen years, including ten volumes of diaries, four novels, a Number 1 best-selling analysis of what it takes to win in politics, business and sport, Winners and How They Succeed, and two personal memoirs on depression and the pursuit of happiness. His latest, Living Better: How I learned to survive depression, was also a Sunday Times best-seller.

Anthony Williams, Sales & Marketing Manager of the Winter Gardens Blackpool said: “The brilliant ‘The Rest is Politics’ podcast is witty and engaging and delivers a refreshing balance of policy and world events from these two charismatic heavyweights.

“We are delighted that they will be appearing as part of our Word Fest. event in October joining the line-up already confirmed. It’s set to be an amazing weekend.”

The Word Fest. festival at the Winter Gardens Blackpool is being co-produced with Elaine Silverwood from Book Bean & Ice Cream and will see celebrated authors talk about their love of writing, their books, answer questions and sign books for fans.

Authors already confirmed include Michael Morpurgo celebrating the 40th anniversary of War Horse, Sunday Times bestselling author Milly Johnson, Historian and broadcaster Saul David, author Scott Mitchell & many more.

More authors are still to be announced for the programme.
