There’s more nautical fun to come at The Mall Blackburn this weekend as its two week Summer Daze free arts and crafts continues.

Children have been getting creative with a whole host of activities including making porthole pictures, sea life window decorations, handheld windmills and snapping sharks.

The free sessions run until Friday 26th August and the line-up for the rest of the week includes ice-cream fridge magnets, Air Sea Rescue moving helicopters and light up lighthouses.

Blackburn BID’s free sand sculpture trail, which takes people on a tour around the town to see stunning handcrafted sculptures, has also been a huge hit and will continue until Sunday 28th August.

Loraine Jones, General Manager at The Mall Blackburn, said: “Summer Daze continues here at The Mall and there are still lots of exciting activities to enjoy this week.

“Everything is totally free, including the BID’s spectacular sand sculpture trail, so parents can keep the kids entertained without having to spend money.

“We look forward to seeing what the children create this week!”

Activity schedule:

Monday 22nd Seaside glitter tattoos

Tuesday 23rd Ice cream fridge magnets

Wednesday 24th Air Sea Rescue moving helicopters

The free Summer Daze arts and crafts activities will take place between 11am and 4pm in the unit between Poundbakery and Muffin Break.

On Friday 12th August a three-day live sand sculpture carve took place in Victoria Court in The Mall and the final result forms part of a sand sculpture trail around Blackburn town centre. Trail maps can be collected from The Mall’s Ask Me Point.

The stunning sculptures will be located in Victoria Court, Trespass, Primark, Clarks and Rhode Island Coffee in The Mall as well as in Utilita on King William Street, Althams on New Market Street, Grays Schoolwear on Northgate, Blackburn Central Library, Mad Hatters Tearooms on Town Hall Street and Morrisons.
