Theatre in the park is back with two fantastic performances announced for this summer.

Organised by Chorley Council, these outdoor, amplified performances, by Quantum Theatre and Outreach Opera will provide fun and a musical journey in the grounds of Astley Hall.

Councillor Peter Wilson, Deputy Leader of Chorley Council said: “We’re excited to welcome outdoor performances to Astley Park this summer - this year’s events offer something for both families and music enthusiasts. Both performances this year will be amplified providing improved sound for the audience.

“The Park’s Walled Garden, provides a stunning location for events like these, which are always really popular, so I urge everyone to get their tickets as soon as possible before they sell out.”

On August 21, Quantum Theatre will bring Peter Rabbit & his naughty cousin Benjamin to Astley Hall’s Walled Garden with their enchanting new adaptation of two of Beatrix Potter’s best-loved Tales. How will they ever escape from Mr McGregor’s garden (no doubt finding themselves in all sorts of scrapes along the way!).

This spellbound performance will provide a magical afternoon of fun for all the family. Gates open at 17:00 with the performance starting at 18:00 until 19:30. Ticket prices: Adults £15, Children 4-16 £10 (3yrs and under go free), Family £40.

Following this, on 3 September, Outreach Opera return to Astley Park for their Last Night of the Proms open-air concert, taking the audience on a musical journey from opera through to songs from the west end shows, finishing with much loved traditional British anthems, for those who enjoy flag waving and a sing-a-long.

Gates for this event open at 5:30pm (last entry 6:30pm) with the performance starting at 6:30pm. Ticket prices Adults £18, Children 5-16 £10 (4yrs and under go free), Family £46 (online booking fees apply).

Tickets for both events are currently available online at Skiddle, with paper tickets on sale at the Astley Hall Giftshop. Gift shop opening hours can be found here: astleypark.co.uk/giftshop

Ticket holders are encouraged to pack their chairs and picnic rugs (seating is not provided) and are welcome to bring picnics, although refreshments and snacks will be available to purchase. This is an outdoor event so please bring suitable clothing if required.
