Now! At Last, the incredible Operas Madama Butterfly and Carmen will return to Blackpool Grand Theatre for 2022!

It's One Fine Day again with the welcome return of Opera to The Grand stage as Senbla presents Opera International’s award-winning Ellen Kent productions of Bizet's Carmen on Wednesday 2 February and Puccini's Madama Butterfly on Thursday 3 February.

Ellen Kent famously said: “My operas have to be emotional and beautiful” and all the exceptional soloists have been hand-picked and directed by Ellen to create a visually beautiful and moving production. Her incredible operas always provide a stunning spectacle with breath-taking sets, sumptuous costumes, highly-praised chorus and a full orchestra.

Bizet's Carmen brings an evening of passion, sexual jealousy, death and unforgettable arias. This dazzling production features Bizet’s unforgettable melodies including ‘The Toreador’s Song’, Carmen’s enticing ‘Habanera’, and Don José’s lyrical ‘Flower Song’ in a setting evoking the stunning architecture of Seville and its main square with Roman and Moorish influences. (Sung in French with English surtitles).

Puccini's award-winning Madama Butterfly is back by overwhelming public demand in a new production with exquisite sets including a spectacular Japanese garden and fabulous costumes. Madama Butterfly tells the heart-breaking story of the beautiful young Japanese girl who falls in love with an American naval lieutenant – with dramatic results. (Sung in Italian with English surtitles)
