This January Ridgeway Farm are following the RSPBs Big Garden Bird Watch on 28th - 30th January.

Ridgeway Farm is not only the home to a variety of farm animals, but is also home to a wide selection of wild birds.

As farmers, they work with their wildlife and provide the perfect habitats for a wide range of creatures, whether that be through providing winter bird feed, from their crops and hedgerows, or shelter in their hedges, trees and barns, or water from their ponds and other watercourses.

Throughout the year Ridgeway Farm are fortunate to share their home with a variety of birds; Corn Bunting, Oystercatchers, Gold Finches, Blue Tits, Great Tits, Long Tail Tits, Buzzards, Kestrels, Sparrow Hawks, Black Birds, Jays, Nut Hatchers, Robin, Woodpecker Wagtails, Shell ducks, Snipe, Wood Pigeon, Redwing, Mistle Thrush, Wren, Merlin, Magpie, Barn Owl, Little Owl, Canadian Geese, Rooks, Swallows, Swifts, Chiff Chaff, Chaffinch, Tree Sparrow, Curlews and Lapwings, just to name a few!

So they thought it would be a great opportunity for you to visit their farm and see all their familiar friendly farm animals together with a winter farm walk to see which birds you can spot around the farm. They will also be doing “bird” related crafts and activities in their Education Shed.

As it is also Farmhouse Breakfast week they will also be offering an All Day Farmhouse Breakfast which will be available from their Hatchery.
