There's lots of fun events happening this weekend in Lancashire from music festivals to farmers markets and the big illuminations switch-on there's no need to be bored this weekend. 

The British Country Music Festival 

3rd-5th September 

The British Country Music Fesitval, one of the UK’s most popular, indoor music discovery festivals, returns this week with headliner acts; Nathan Carter, Wildwood Kin and Lisa McHugh.

St Anne's Kite Festival 

3rd - 5th September

The very popular St Anne's Kite festival is back this weekend. Taking place on St Anne's central beach, this event takes place from the 3rd to the 5th of September. Expect to see kites of all shapes and sizes from across the UK as well as fun fair rides, bouncy castles, stalls, donkey rides and so much more.

The Highest Point Festival 

2nd September - 5th September

Highest Point, Lancashire’s biggest open-air music festival is set to welcome 35,000 ticket-holders for four days of amazing musical performances from some of the music industry’s biggest names this weekend. Returning  to Williamson Park with headliners; Rudimental, Rag n Bone Man, JAMES and Rick Astley. Sunday see's a Big Family Day Out, with a fun-filled timetable of events scheduled.

Blackpool illuminations 

Switch on - Friday 3rd September. 

Illuminations running 3rd September - 3rd January. 

They are back! This Friday see's the big switch on for the Blackpool illuminations. For the first time ever, the lights will be switched on from the iconic newly renovated Blackpool ballroom. With celebrity appearences from music stars KSI, Ella Henderson, Wes Nelson and The Wombats and queen of the ballroom Shirley Balas switching on the illuminations. The Blackpool illuminations are the greatest free light show on earth and has been a major Blackpool attraction since 1879. They will run for an extended period this year, from the 3rd September - 3rd January. Click here for more information

Farmers Market, Cedar Farm 

4th September

This weekend see's the return of the Farmers Market at Cedar Farm. This FREE event is held on the first Saturday of each month and is home to many tempting fresh local produce and hand-made goodies served by friendly stall owners.

5th September

The History Of Rock is a celebration of rock music throughout the decades. Experience  iconic music brought back to life by an exceptional live band. A jaw dropping night transporting you through the golden ages of rock is coming to Colne this weekend. Featuring the music of artists such as Led Zeppelin, Guns n Roses, AC/DC, Queen and many more.
