The highly acclaimed West End show, ‘The Woman in Black’ will bring Autumn chills to audiences at the Blackpool Grand Theatre this month with its eerie atmosphere, powerful acting and ingenious set design.

A favourite in the West End for over 30 years, the popular horror play runs from 20th – 25th September at Blackpool Grand Theatre with a mixture of evening and matinee shows, and features Susan Hill’s gripping ghost story as part of a UK wide tour.

A masterclass in building tension, plot twists and keeping audiences on the edge of their seats, ‘The Woman in Black’ is a staple of further and higher education curriculums.  The performance is suitable for over-12’s and as an exclusive for this production only, all visitors buying tickets will be entered into a prize draw to win a copy of the novel signed by author, Susan Hill.

The successful stage adaptation written by the late Stephen Mallatratt, features Antony Eden as the lead character, playing ‘The actor’.  Antony’s West End credits also include “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” and “Les Misérables”. The dark, gripping production, directed by Robin Herford, is a brilliantly successful study in atmosphere, illusion, and controlled horror.

Robert Goodale stars as ‘Arthur Kipps’, a lawyer obsessed with a curse that he believes has been cast over him and his family by the spectre of a Woman in Black and he engages a sceptical young actor to help him tell his terrifying story and exorcise the fear that grips his soul.

Commenting on the impressive stage production, CEO of Blackpool Grand Theatre, Ruth Eastwood says: “It’s a huge coup to be featured on the bill of this hit UK tour and what a treat our audiences are going to be in for!  It all begins innocently enough, but then, as they reach further into Arthur’s darkest memories, they find themselves caught up in a world of eerie marshes and moaning winds. It’s an incredible production with a stellar cast and we can’t wait to welcome them later this month”

Thanks to the School Travel Organiser, ‘The Woman in Black’ was recently awarded ‘Best Theatre Production for Schools’ at the School Travel Awards and as part of the show’s commitment to young people, those aged 18 to 26 will be able to purchase a £13.50 ticket on Monday to Friday.
