Residents and visitors are reminded there are plenty of opportunities to get involved in Easter activities at home, or in one of Preston’s many parks and open spaces. However, it is essential that all of us take extra caution and avoid highly populated areas and large gatherings.

Due to current Government restrictions, the popular family event, Egg Rolling, cannot take place in Preston this Easter.

This year, why not try to beat last year’s attempts at rolling your eggs down the stairs at home or set up an adventure course in the garden or nearby open space? Preston Markets is hosting an egg decorating competition, with the chance to win vouchers and the Harris is facilitating a virtual egg hunt and sharing a range of relevant information across its social media channels.

The long-standing annual egg rolling event ordinarily takes place in Avenham and Miller Parks on Easter Monday, but for a second year in a row has had to be cancelled due to Covid19 restrictions.

So why not roll your eggs at your local park rather than travel to Avenham. Don’t forget to take a picture or video and tag us in, using #EggRolling

Adrian Phillips, Chief Executive, said,

“We know cancelling the annual Egg Rolling event will be hugely disappointing to many people.

““Everyone’s lives have been turned upside down this past year throughout the pandemic and while there are rays of hope that our lives may return to normal soon, the virus remains a threat and we must respond to the latest national guidance.

“Please respect the regulations, be patient a little longer and celebrate at home or somewhere local to you. We ask that you do not gather in large groups or travel out of your way to attend Avenham and Miller Parks this Easter. We cannot wait for normality and traditions to resume, but it is not yet time.

“We’re looking forward to welcoming people back to events starting in May as the Government’s roadmap unfolds, whilst still exercising caution to ensure we can all return to normal as soon as it’s safe.”
