THE GLOBE IS ‘GOOD TO GO’ AS IT WELCOMES BACK SHOWS IN A COVID SECURE WAY

Blackpool Pleasure Beach’s The Globe has announced it will be staging a production of ‘Aladdin: The Pantomime’ in the run up to Christmas.

The COVID secure show is a magical reimaging of the classic children’s book, the pantomime tells the story of a streetwise boy whose life is never the same after finding a mysterious lamp at the market.

Enjoying a four-week run at The Globe, visitors can book with confidence as the Pleasure Beach has introduced a variety of new polices and procedure to ensure that all performances are in line with the latest government guidance.

Running on selected dates from November 21st to December 24th, the pantomime promises to be fun for the whole family. With tickets starting at just £8, guests are advised to book early to avoid disappointment.

With a star-studded cast, the lead role of Aladdin will be played by Kevin Simm - currently lead singer of Wet Wet Wet. Having found fame as part of pop sensation Liberty X, Simm was introduced to a new generation of fans when he went on to win The Voice UK in 2016, under the mentorship of Ricky Wilson. His love interest, Princess Jasmine, will be played by Former Emmerdale favourite, Kelsey Beth Crossley.

Discussing the show and his return to Blackpool Pleasure Beach, Simm said: “I’m so excited to be part of Aladdin, the show is going to be absolutely brilliant.

“Not many people will be aware of my long history with the Pleasure Beach, but I actually begun my career as a professional performer here. It was through the support of the park and Amanda Thompson that I took the decision to audition for the talent show Popstars, which ultimately led to the creation of Liberty X. I’m so happy to be back performing where it all started.”

Amanda Thompson OBE, Managing Director of Blackpool Pleasure Beach, added: “I’ve always loved the festive nature of pantomime, and our version of Aladdin is set to be a real winner. I can think of no one better to play our lead than Kevin. Having known him for over 20 years, it is brilliant to have him back performing at Blackpool Pleasure Beach.”

Discussing the additional safety measures in place, Thompson, added: “We are delighted to be delivering shows in a COVID secure way. We are following the latest government advice and working hard to do everything we can to keep our visitors, staff, and performers safe. At The Globe, we’re good to go.”

Aladdin: The Pantomime will be following the latest tiered restrictions announced on October 16th, including the introduction of a one-way system, and limiting the venue’s capacity to allow for social distancing. Blackpool Pleasure Beach asks that those looking to attend only do so with others from within their household or support bubble.
