The British Wildlife Photography Awards will be exhibiting their eleventh year with Astley Hall in a unique exhibition.

This exciting exhibition will be situated amongst the garden and park of our beautiful Astley Hall. The exhibition will open from early September through to March 2021.

Astley Hall has proudly been hosting the British Wildlife Photography Awards for a number of years and the exhibition attracts wildlife fans and photography enthusiasts from around the North West and beyond. This year marks its tenth anniversary with a retrospective look at past the past 10 years and will include all the overall winners along with a selection of the highly recommended photographers, who have made this the exciting and wonderful event what it is today.

Councillor Peter Wilson, Deputy Executive Leader and Executive Member for Resources at Chorley Council, said:

“We have an excellent and longstanding relationship with the British Wildlife Photography Awards – and it’s an exhibition that attracts huge interest from residents across Chorley.

“The talent on show each year is second to none – and we are really lucky to be able to host such a prestigious event here in Chorley.

“I would recommend this exhibition to anyone with an interest in art, photography, wildlife or the outdoors.

“The new format this year will see the exhibition moved to an outdoor setting, in the grounds of Astley Hall, Coach House and Park.

“We are confident that this not only provides a new and exciting way to stage the exhibition; but also makes it a COVID-19-secure event, in the open air and socially distanced.

“I am really proud of the council’s museum and events team who are not downing tools because of COVID-19; rather, they are finding new ways of delivering events so that the people of Chorley have some lovely, cultural things to look forward to despite this awful pandemic.

“The exhibition is completely free to all visitors so I encourage everyone to come and check it out; check out Chorley!”

The team at Astley Hall are excited to share their inventive and exciting ways of continuing to host this prestigious annual exhibition, and to show these wonderful pieces within our stunning surroundings. Visitors to the park will be able to experience these images in a way which has never been done before, getting up close and personal with all creatures great and small within our walled garden and be on the lookout for more than a few cheeky characters amongst the flowers.

With the recent uncertainties and disruptions to daily life the Astley Hall team and British Wildlife Photography Awards are hoping that this 6 month exhibition which will run from late summer to early spring will be a place you can come back to again and again to enjoy as it changes with the seasons. There will be accompanying activity packs and a souvenir booklet to mark the exhibition available and it is hoped that visitors can take some solace from the past few months and safely enjoy these images and our beautiful surroundings.

The British Wildlife Photography Awards’ exhibition will be hosted in the grounds of Astley Hall and Park from early September 2020 to March 2021, entrance is free with activity packs, map, and souvenir booklet available to purchase (see website for full details).
