The traditional and much loved Egg Rolling annual event is cancelled for 2020 due to the Covid19 virus.

All other events on council owned land – including in the Harris and in our parks – are also cancelled up to 2nd May, but this is under regular review. These include April’s Harris Live event and the Workers’ Memorial Day activities.

Councillor Matthew Brown, Leader at Preston City Council, said, “We all have a responsibility to follow advice to minimise the risks associated with the Covid-19 virus and to maintain social distancing to keep our families, loved ones and our communities safe.

“Staff at the council will continue to work in providing essential services to the residents of Preston, but we ask for your patience and understanding while we try our best to carry on as much as possible.”

Cabinet member for culture and leisure, Councillor Peter Kelly, added, “We hope people can understand the measures being taken to protect everyone throughout the pandemic, but we also know that some people will be disappointed that egg rolling in particular is cancelled".

“These are unprecedented times. As a council we are stringently following Government and public health guidance and have not made these decisions lightly".
