Chorley is set to come alive to the sound of music this weekend as the hugely popular and award-winning Chorley Live returns for its seventh year.

On Friday 4 and Saturday 5 October, there will be a huge buzz of excitement in Chorley town centre as 35 venues play host to a variety of local artists and performers with the full list of over 280 appearances available to download at

The event, which will see people of all ages, including children, making their way into the town centre, has something for everyone and is this year being run in partnership with Derian House Children’s Hospice.

Councillor Peter Wilson, Deputy Leader of Chorley Council, said: “You can feel the anticipation building ahead of the event as it creates a real buzz around the town centre.

“If you haven’t been before then I’d encourage you to come and take part as we get brilliant feedback, which culminated in the event winning an accolade at the Lancashire Tourism Awards.

“Not only is it a great weekend of entertainment, it gives a significant boost to the local economy and supports our town centre, which is a really important part of the event.”
The wide variety of music genres and differing styles of venues create a unique community night out with people getting entry to all venues both nights via a wristband that costs just £5.

This year will see a number of new venues including the Derian House outdoor stage on Fazakerley Street.

David Robinson, Chief Executive at Derian House Children’s Hospice, said: “We’re really looking forward to being involved with Chorley Live for the first time.

“The partnership will help us to raise money over the weekend to support more than 400 families who have a child with a life-threatening illness.

“Our shop on Cleveland Street will be open and we’ll be about in the town centre if people want to make donations.”

Last year’s event saw over 11,000 people attend over the two evenings and it’s looking like there will be another record attendance again this year.

Nigel Stewart, of the Creative Network and who has organised the acts, said it will bring a real community feel back into the town.

“Once again there’s a real buzz about the event and I’m delighted with the variety and quality of acts we are able to bring to Chorley again this year,” he said.

“The event is such great value with access to over 280 performances for just £5 – it’s like Glastonbury, but without the mud!

“The event brings the community together and it’s great to see three generations out together enjoying the fantastic entertainment.

“Each year the event has grown and this year will be no different. Last year we sold out of wristbands and we anticipate the same this year so don’t delay, get your wristband now and tell your family and friends all about it.”

The event is on Friday 4 and Saturday October 5 with live performances at 7pm, 8pm, 9pm and 10pm at each venue.

Wristbands are on sale at each venue, from the acts taking part and from the council’s offices on Union Street. More details, including full schedules, can be found at

A programme containing details of all the performances is now available both online and at all the venues.
