If the brighter days of spring are inspiring you to ‘Ready, steady cook’- or simply ‘Ready, steady- eat!’, then get ready to satisfy those tingling tastebuds.  Perfect for MasterChefs and Miss Pickys alike, Lancaster’s Food and Drink Festival team are heating up the griddles and preparing to take over the city’s Leisure Park for the early May Bank Holiday weekend.

On Saturday 4th, Sunday 5th and Monday 6th May, Lancaster Brewery’s garden at the Wyresdale Road site will once again host the popular event with plenty to entertain, refresh and tempt the whole family.

Now in its 8th year, the festival is expected to attract thousands of locals, laying on 60 indoor and outdoor stalls, gazebos and marquees groaning with culinary goodness.  The finest local growers, producers, retailers and artisan chefs from across the North West, and beyond, will be dishing up delicious delights- and popular free samples!

Showcasing the highest quality local producers, expect plenty of fresh local game, fish, pies and pasties, plus breads, cheeses, spices, oils and chutneys, perfect to take home, freeze or gift.  Keeping everyone sweet, the festival will be choc-full of cakes, macarons, and ice cream flavours to please every palate.

Making sure you don’t go hungry while stocking up on your favourite products and ingredients, plenty of refreshment stops will be serving mouth watering snacks to keep you refuelled, from the hottest barbecue and smokehouse offerings to the latest vegan trends.

All topped up of course with a wide selection of locally brewed beers, plus artisan gins, ciders, fruit juices, natural cordials and locally ground coffees to quench your thirst or continue the party back home.

Chris Duffy, Manager at Lancaster Brewery, explains; “Every year the visitor numbers grow, and it’s great to expand the range of food on offer as well.  Where else locally can you explore the world’s cuisines in a few leisurely steps, from vibrant street food to spicy exotic snacks?  Plus we’ve a host of friendly experts to chat to, watch demos, and take home recipes, advice and a little spark of inspiration- as well as a satisfied belly!”

There’s plenty to keep little ones entertained, too, with face painting and indoor soft play.  All the leisure park’s attractions are open throughout the event, including Giggles Play and Adventure, Countrystyle Meats and restaurant, and GB Antiques Centre, with live music inside the Brewery, too.

Running 12pm midday to 6pm daily with free entry and free parking, Lancaster Food and Drink Festival will be a tasty May Bank Holiday day out for all the family.
