A host of star-studded names attended a special anniversary event to commemorate one of the region’s most iconic theatres.

More than 350 people from across the country turned out in force to celebrate the 125th anniversary of the Blackpool Grand Theatre.

Theatre bosses made several key announcements at the special event including confirmation of an incredible show programme for 2019.
This year the theatre will host some of the country’s leading national shows, including Woman in Black, Agatha Christie’s The Mousetrap and Thriller Live.
The theatre will also be hosting their own special summer show and a pantomime favourite for Christmas, Peter Pan.
Coronation Street star Lucy Fallon, who started out as a youngster at the theatre, was in attendance as was Tom Lister, formally of Emmerdale and ex EastEnders actress, Cheryl Fergison.
The theatre’s latest fundraising efforts and plans for renovating the Grade II listed building were also announced during the celebratory event.
Ruth Eastwood, Chief Executive Officer at Blackpool Grand Theatre, said: “I’m absolutely delighted with the turnout for our special anniversary event.
“125 years is something to be extremely proud of, we have a lot of unbelievable memories and we cannot wait to create more moving forward.
“The event itself featured a number of announcements and it is with great pride to secure high profile shows such as Woman in Black, The Mousetrap and Thriller Live. All three shows are huge coups for the theatre and shows the direction we are heading.”
Speeches from Ruth and Amanda Thompson OBE, a patron of the theatre and managing director of Pleasure Beach Resort, also covered some of the outreach and education programmes the Grand Theatre are involved in, programmes which are leading the way in introducing people to the
the world of performing arts.

The final highlight of the event was a performance from Lucy Fallon, who performed a magnificent rendition of Don’t Cry For Me Argentina.
