Chorley is set to come alive to the sound of music this weekend as the hugely popular Chorley Live returns for its fifth year.

On Friday 5 and Saturday 6 October, there will be a huge buzz of excitement in Chorley town centre as 33 venues play host to a variety of local artists and performers with the full list of over 260 performances available to download at chorleylive.com

The event, which will see people of all ages, including children, making their way into the town centre, has something for everyone. The wide variety of music genres and differing styles of venues create a unique community night out with people getting entry to all venues both nights via a wristband that costs just £5.

Chorley Council is again teaming up with the Creative Network to put on the fifth Chorley Live festival of music and entertainment, with this year’s event looking to top the 11,000 people that enjoyed it last year.

Councillor Peter Wilson, Deputy Leader of Chorley Council, said: “Chorley Live is back once again bigger and better than ever. Each year the event has grown, and this year is no different.

“Last year’s event saw over 11,000 people attend over the two evenings and it’s looking like there will be another record attendance again this year.

“The wide variety of music ensures there really is something for everyone with the event enjoyed by people of all ages, including children. There is a real community atmosphere around the town and it’s fantastic to see so many people enjoy what Chorley has to offer.

“If you haven’t been to Chorley Live before then it’s definitely worth the visit. If people are looking to plan a night out with friends or family then make sure you come along.
“If you don’t normally go out in Chorley then I hope you’ll think about getting your wristband and supporting both the local artists and town centre businesses.

“We will have entertainment and face painting in the town centre from 5.30pm through the night on both evenings for those families who want to come into town early along with food and drink.”

The event will see people gain entry into the venues using a wristband that will cost £5 (U12s free) enabling people to choose from over 260 live performances on the Friday and Saturday evenings.

Nigel Stewart, of the Creative Network and who has organised the acts, said it will bring a real community feel back into the town.

“Once again there’s a real buzz about the event and I’m delighted with the variety and quality of acts we are able to bring to Chorley again this year,” he said.

“The event is such great value with access to over 260 performances for just £5 – it’s like Glastonbury, but without the mud!

“The event brings the community together and it’s great to see three generations out together enjoying the fantastic entertainment.

“Each year the event has grown and this year will be no different. Last year we sold out of wristbands and we anticipate the same this year so don’t delay, get your wristband now and tell your family and friends all about it.”

The event is on Friday 5 and Saturday October 6 with live performances at 7pm, 8pm, 9pm and 10pm at each venue.

Wristbands are on sale at each venue, from the acts taking part and from the council’s offices on Union Street. More details, including full schedules, can be found at chorleylive.com.

A programme containing details of all the performances is now available both online and at all the venues.
