Music stars Ella Eyre and Jonas Blue will perform at the 2018 Blackpool Illuminations Switch-On concert.

Diversity, Club MTV DJs R3wire & Varski and MTV Presenter Becca Dudley also join the line-up at Blackpool’s Tower Festival Headland on Friday 31 August for what promises to be the most spectacular free event in the resort’s calendar!

Ella Eyre will appear on the Switch-On stage fresh from her performance with Sigala at Isle of MTV in Malta on June 27. Ella, who is an MTV Staying Alive Foundation ambassador is currently riding high in the charts with her latest song, Answerphone.

The singer is best known for her collaborations with Rudimental on their UK number one single, Waiting All Night, which won the 2014 Brit Award for British Single of The Year.  Ella also performed with DJ Fresh on his single, Gravity and with Sigala on Came Here for Love.

Ella will be joined by MTV EMA and Brit award nominee, Jonas Blue.  Jonas, a multi-platinum hit maker, has surpassed more than 4 billion streams with chart-topping singles like Fast Car, Perfect Strangers, By Your Side and Mama.

Dance group Diversity make a return for their third consecutive year after switching on the 2017 Illuminations in a unique partnership with Star Trek.

This year, they will bring another scintillating routine to the Switch-On stage and will be joined by Britain’s Got Talent finalists DVJ (Diversity Juniors).  From September, they will embark on their 8th UK tour with Street Dance Circus Spectacular: IGNITE, before returning to Blackpool in October for SLIMEFEST, hosted by Diversity’s own Jordan Banjo and Perri Kiely.

Also returning are MTV’s Becca Dudley, along with R3wire and Varski, the Club MTV DJs and record producers who have helped turn Illuminations Switch-On night into the coolest party in town.

The Friday night celebration will start with a “Blackpool Introduces” showcase featuring the best of talent from across the Fylde Coast, prior to the start of the main show.

Cllr Gillian Campbell, Deputy Leader of Blackpool Council, said: “This promises to be another spectacular night of free entertainment on the Tower Festival Headland. The last few Switch-On events have generated an incredible party atmosphere and the line-up that is now taking shape for 2018 guarantees something very special to kick-start the Illuminations season.”

More artists, including the celebrity who will pull the switch to launch the 2018 Blackpool Illuminations season will be unveiled in the weeks ahead.

As last year, the Switch-On event will be free, with people invited to apply for the 20,000 wristbands that will guarantee entry to the Tower Festival Headland arena. The wristband ballot closes at 9am on July 24. To register, go to: www.visitblackpool.com/switchon.
