The craggy fells and gorges of the Pennine landscape around Blackburn and Burnley are perfect for climbing, abseiling and gorge walking.

Grab some friends and join Adventure Northwest for a pulse-racing Adventure Day, combining climbing with canoeing and mountain biking.

If you’re looking for speedy excitement then Ski Rossendale is one to check out. It might not be real snow but at 200 metres it’s the longest slope in the North West and you’ll get amazing views across the Rossendale Valley and fresh air on your face as you ski.

If none of the above is quite thrilling enough, then you can’t get much more awesome than jumping out of a plane at 15,000ft over Morecambe Bay with Black Knight Parachutes - just imagine that view as you plunge towards the ground!

For those who prefer keep-your-feet-on-theground-fun, Impact Blackpool offers a crazy range of activities including paintball, laser tag, air rifle shooting and, most intriguingly, human table football.

What could be more fun than being strapped within a 46ft by 20ft inflatable table football pitch whilst you battle it out against your pals?

If you want to try something new and unusual sports then what about giving the new sport of ‘FootGolf’ a try at Mytton Fold Hotel & Golf Complex near Clitheroe. All of the rules are the same as golf, the player with the lowest score wins – it’s just there’s no clubs, just feet, socks and shoes  and a bigger ball!

If you’re not quite ready for this football-golf hybrid then there are plenty of golf courses to try across the county from Royal Lytham & St Annes, host of The Open, to the likes of Morecambe Golf Course, with its stunning views across the bay.
