Woofers comedy club is back, (this time on a Wednesday). Featuring some of the best comedic talents in live comedy right on your doorstep. Hosted by regular MC Phil Walker, you are pretty much guaranteed a great night of side-splitting fun.
Featuring this month welcoming the mighty headliner Andy Askins. Andy is a diminutive figure who exudes an air of vulnerability as he steps up to the microphone armed with a guitar and a cheeky grin. It's an overwhelmingly misleading demeanour which serves to heighten the impact of the killer lines that he delivers. Since becoming a full time comedian back in 2005, Andy has built a reputation as a distinctive and original talent, and is now a highly sought-after headliner at all the major UK comedy clubs, as well as being a favourite amongst his peers. Following a successful debut in 2014, Andy was invited back to the prestigious Altitude Comedy Festival in Austria the following year, where he once again tore the roof off. He has previously had the honour of working with Michael McIntyre, Lee Evans, Jason Manford, Alan Carr, Jimmy Carr, Micky Flanagan, Harry Hill, Rhod Gilbert, Bill Bailey and Jack Dee, to name a few stand-up luminaries. Andy performed his solo show 'The Man With No Name' at the prestigious Edinburgh Festival for the first time in 2016 to rave reviews. On TV screens, Andy was recently invited to appear on The John Bishop Show, performing a storming set at the Hackney Empire, alongside a stellar line-up from the worlds of comedy and music. The show transmitted in a primetime Saturday night slot on BBC One. Having impressed audiences and executives alike, Andy was then invited back to perform on that year's John Bishop Christmas Show (the only Artiste to be invited back from the series). The festive edition of the show also aired on BBC One. Andy has also recorded a set for the latest series of Comedy Central's The Comedy Store, and has performed on two series of The World Stands Up, also for Comedy Central.
'A cracking comedian who's made me belly laugh every time I've seen him over the years!!', Kevin Bridges.
Nina Gilligan sometimes outrageous, always hilarious with a charming, loveable persona which belies an acerbic wit. Equally at home in clubs as art centre's Nina is opening, closing and emceeing gigs up and down the country. 2021 saw her crowned as the winner of the prestigious Leicester Mercury Award after also winning Liverpool Hot Water and being a finalist in English Comedian of The Year in previous years. Recent work includes a sell-out show Late Developer at Leicester Comedy Festival which is going on to The Edinburgh Fringe 2022 with Just The Tonic. Recent tour support includes Jason Manford, Clinton Baptiste and Rachel Fairburn. Described as 'a gem of the circuit' and with an ability to 'transcend age barriers effortlessly' she continues to rise through the comedy ranks.
'A bolshier Mrs Merton she's not one to suffer fools lightly so watch out for a razor-sharp wit used at will.'
Colin Manford is a dynamic comedian, experienced host, and creative force behind multiple live entertainment ventures. Known for his warm stage presence, cheeky storytelling, and clever musical investigations, Colin has carved out a distinctive niche in the UK comedy circuit. His current touring solo show Off The Record blends stand-up with music history, multimedia storytelling, and a dash of detective work, earning praise for its originality and crowd connection. Colin is equally at home performing for families, festivals, or corporate audiences, and has built a reputation for professionalism, versatility, and being a genuine crowd-pleaser.
Please note that line-ups are occasionally subject to change due to comedians being fragile little souls.
