Following their eminent productions of Legally Blonde, Chicago and West Side Story, the multi-award-winning The Sound of Musical Theatre Company are delighted to present their production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical spectacle 'Cats'.
'Midnight. Not a sound from the pavement…'
The Jellicle Cats come out to play and reunite on one ultra-special night of the year – the night of the Jellicle Ball. One by one they tell their life-celebrating stories for the amusement of their leader Old Deuteronomy, who must choose one of the Cats to ascend and be reborn into a new life.
Based on T. S. Eliot's Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats, this all-sing and all-dance show is set amongst a huge junkyard and comes alive with our favourite feline characters including Rum Tum Tugger, Macavity, Mr. Mistoffelees, Mungojerrie & Rumpleteaser, Grizabella, Old Deuteronomy and Skimbleshanks.
Cats, one of the longest-running shows in history, received its world premiere in 1981 where it played for 21 record-breaking years and almost 9,000 performances, winning multiple awards and accolades, including Best Musical.
The well-renowned musical score includes the infamous song Memory, which has been recorded by over 150 artists from Barbra Streisand and Barry Manilow to Jennifer Hudson in the 2019 motion picture.
Cats features a wonderfully talented cast, a superb score, inspired choreography and mischievous costumes. This is a brilliant song and dance spectacular not to be missed.
