ANGRY BOATER - Deep Comedy from Shallow Waters
In 2000, Joel Sanders performed a run of shows in Las Vegas.
26 years on, he's finally made it to The Lowther Pavilion.
"Sharp, funny and completely original"
Join the charismatic star of Channel 4's 'Narrow Escapes' for his flagship show about dropping out of society to become a nomad on the UK's waterways.
Crisscrossing America, trying to become the first British comedian to perform in all 50 states, Joel spent a decade sharing the stage with his comedy heroes, including the late Robin Williams.
But in 2008, a show in Tennessee went horribly wrong and, with 10 States remaining, Joel's American adventures came to an abrupt end. He returned to the UK, bought a canal boat and started creating a show about it - 'Angry Boater.'
18 years on, approaching 60 years old, he's still floating around.
Joel was recently discovered by Channel 4, becoming an instant hit on the popular 'Narrow Escapes' series. The programme documented Joel's adventures including, in the Season 2 finale, his narrowboat sea cruise in the middle of the night.
Whether you're a boater, boat-curious or you can imagine nothing worse, this is an evening of comedy & stories you'll remember for years to come. As well as delving into the joys, perils and madness of a life afloat with hypertension, Joel also lifts the lid on several of his celebrity encounters (including an awkward towpath encounter with a disgraced Hollywood A-Lister).
From a recent audience member....
"Joel Sanders, aka Angry Boater, is an absolute comedic gem! His razor-sharp wit, masterful storytelling, and brilliantly observational humour make for a night of non-stop laughter. Whether he's sharing his unique experiences of life on the water or delving into the absurdities of everyday life, Joel captivates his audience with an energy that's both electric and effortlessly relatable. His ability to turn the most mundane moments into comedic gold is nothing short of genius. If you haven't experienced Angry Boater live, you're seriously missing out on one of the funniest and most original acts around."
