Southport Learning Town is a collaboration of local organisations passionate about promoting learning for all ages. Together, they aim to share resources, events, and opportunities that make Southport a hub of discovery, inclusion, and lifelong learning.
The vision is to make Southport known as a vibrant Learning Town, a beacon of education, creativity, sustainability, and community. At the launch event at The Atkinson visitors can enjoy a full day of free activities for all ages. Get involved in drama sessions, music workshops, magic tricks, face painting and more. No booking required, just drop in. You are encouraged to stay for full sessions, where possible, to get the most from each experience.

Location: Studio, 1st Floor, The Atkinson:
11:00 – 11:45. Sing along with Octave Choir. All abilities welcome.
12:00 – 12:45. Science meets magic. Alchemy style fun with Dr Rick Tynan.
13:00 – 13:45. Learn an original song. Join Steve Cook for a musical experience.
14:00 – 14:45. Drama workshop with Ignite Youth Theatre (ages 9 - 13 recommended).
Location: Theatre Bar, 1st Floor, The Atkinson:
11:00 – 11:45. Parents and carers session. Informative and supportive conversations.
12:00 – 15:00. Art Tagging with ArtUK. Help describe local artworks to improve accessibility.

11:00 – 13:00. Surprise magic. Roaming tricks from Dr. Rick Tynan.
11:00 – 15:00. Face painting. Colourful fun for all ages.

11:00 – 15:00. Building tour. Discover The Atkinson's fascinating façade with Jan, a local volunteer.
11:00 – 15:00. Giant bubbles. Be amazed in the Town Hall Gardens.
