Christmas classic Scrooge to appear at Lowther Pavilion and screened to live music for the first time. The iconic 1951 film Scrooge is set to tour the UK and for the first time will be screened with the film music played live. By painstakingly transcribing the music scores and lines the Christmas Classic's soundtrack will be performed in concert by the FB Pocket Orchestra for one night only. Starring the legendary Alastair Sim as Ebenezer Scrooge, film goers will experience the production in a totally unique way with atmospheric sound effects, synchronisation and an immersive musical journey that takes the film to new audiences.
The Charles Dicken's tale of Scrooge, A Christmas Carol and his journey with the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future is synonymous with everyone's festive folklore. The beloved tale of redemption and goodwill can now truly come to life and protect the cinematic history whilst taking the film to new audiences.
Commenting on Scrooge Live, Ollie Corbin co-director of the FB Pocket Orchestra and promoter said:
'Scrooge Live is a new and totally unique way to experience this classic film. The musical arrangement has taken months of planning and with our UK tour just a few weeks away we are excited to welcome audiences at venues across the country. Whilst the film has seen numerous remakes over the past years there is something special about an original production and it has been an honour to use our musical skills that will bring to life a true Christmas classic.'
The new production of Scrooge Live will create the spirit of Christmas through the power of cinema and sound. Perfect for gatherings with friends and family of all ages.
