A Talk by Anne Strathie
Join biographer Anne Strathie, author of 'Herbert Ponting: Scott's Antarctic Photographer and Pioneer Filmmaker' (2021) on a journey looking at the life and career of Herbert George Ponting.
From his early life working in a bank in Southport to his adventures in Burma, Korea, Java, China, India, Switzerland, Spain and finally the trip that he is most famous for recording, as part of The Terra Nova Expedition to the Antarctic in 1911 alongside Captain Scott.
Anne Strathie has written three biographies of members of Captain Scott's 'Terra Nova' Antarctic expedition. Research for her books has taken her all over Britain and to Antarctica, New Zealand, Australia, America, Japan and Norway, including Spitsbergen.
Anne, who was brought up in Scotland, now lives in Gloucestershire, England, where she writes and researches on polar and other subjects and regularly gives talks and participates in events in Britain and overseas.
